NDT testing questions from buyers
Do I pay anything as a buyer?
No. Describing a job, getting the method ranking and sending RFQs to matched providers is free for buyers, with no card required.
What do I need to describe my part?
What needs inspecting, the material, the concern, the largest dimension, the quantity and a ZIP code or state. A photo, a drawing and the acceptance standard help but are optional.
How do you know which method fits?
The advisor applies rules by material, defect type, part size and standard, then explains in plain words why each method ranks where it does and what it will miss. The final scope is confirmed with the lab.
Are the price ranges in the result quotes?
No. They are typical bands to help you plan a budget. Each lab quotes the real job after reviewing your RFQ.
How many providers receive my RFQ?
Your RFQ goes to the providers that match its method, region and required certifications. Everyone quotes the same written scope, so you can compare like for like.
Am I obliged to accept a quote?
No. You choose whether to work with any provider, and the contract and payment for the job are between you and the lab you pick.
Can I edit the RFQ before it goes out?
Yes. Every field can be edited, and unknowns can be marked as open questions for the provider to answer.
Questions from NDT labs and inspection companies
What is a matched RFQ?
A request for quote that fits the methods, regions, certifications and equipment envelope stated on your profile, delivered with part, material, method, standard, quantity and deadline.
How much does a plan cost?
Starter is $49 a month or $24 a month billed yearly, Growth $149 or $74, Pro $399 or $199 and Enterprise $899 or $449. Full details are on the NDT lab marketing pricing page.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your account whenever you like. The plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, and payments already made are final.
What happens when I reach my monthly allowance?
New matched RFQs pause until the next billing period, or you can upgrade right away to raise the allowance.
Does deleting a request free up allowance?
No. Allowance counts every RFQ delivered in the billing period, and deleting one never frees quota.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. After you confirm your email, you get one matched RFQ preview for your methods and region. Read more on the provider overview.
Questions about inspection data security
Who sees my drawings and photos?
Only providers you approve after matching. Files are never published or shown on provider profiles.
Can I keep part images private until an NDA is signed?
Yes. Send the written scope first and share images or drawings once the NDA is in place.
Can I delete my request and files?
Yes. You can delete a request and its files from your account at any time. Details are on the inspection data security page.
Do you use cookies for advertising?
No. The site uses only essential cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms.
Questions about inspection methods
When should I choose CT over X-ray?
Choose CT when you need defect location in 3D, porosity volume or internal dimensions. Plain X-ray is often enough for a pass or fail check on porosity in castings or welds. The industrial CT scanning and radiographic testing guides compare both.
Which method finds cracks in welds?
UT and PAUT find internal planar flaws such as lack of fusion and cracks; MT and PT find cracks open to or near the surface. Radiography is strong on volumetric flaws but can miss tight cracks. See ultrasonic testing for weld inspection details.
Can magnetic particle inspection be used on aluminum?
No. MT needs a ferromagnetic material such as carbon or low alloy steel. On aluminum, stainless 300 series or titanium, use liquid penetrant testing or eddy current.
What does infrared inspection find in electrical systems?
It finds abnormal heating from loose connections, overloaded circuits and failing components, provided the equipment is under load during the survey. See infrared inspection.
How do I choose an NDT company?
Check the methods and equipment, personnel certification levels, accreditations such as NADCAP or ISO 17025 where your industry requires them, and the deliverables they send. The guide to NDT companies lists the questions to ask.
